The World Health Organization (WHO), a division of the United National and the leading global health organization, has recognized that probiotics are an important part of wellness. WHO has created the definitive definition of probiotics, which states that "Probiotics are live microorganisms which, when administered in adequate amounts, confer a health benefit on the host."
